Techniques

The following is a description of some techniques that I incorporate into my bodywork. Rarely does a massage session include just one of these modalities; rather, I integrate various techniques to fit the specific needs of each client.

  • Neuromuscular Therapy
A System of bodywork that concentrates on facilitating communication between nerves and muscles. Includes deep tissue, stretching, and trigger point treatment to improve and maintain posture, strength, and flexibility.

  • Swedish Massage
A style of massage utilizing a combination of fluid gliding strokes, kneading, and friction. Effects include promoting relaxation, increasing circulation, and warming up the soft tissues of the body.

  • Reflexology
A type of massage specific to the hands and feet. This work focuses on pressure points and nerve endings that correspond to all of the major body systems.

  • Asian Bodywork
Drawing influences from Eastern medicine, Shiatsu compressions and Thai stretches are used to optimize the flow of energy along the meridians of the body.

  • Hydrotherapy
The use of water in some form to facilitate specific massage work. Common methods include cryotherapy (use of ice/cold) and thermotherapy (use of moist heat).
